This is a very interesting painting and shows in a very simplistic way how two separate organs Anton felt have such an important role in a life. What Anton is trying to say here in order to have love and a happy relationship, which is seen in the cube, you have to compliment  or praise and love one another. He is trying to show this in the simplest terms by having the hearts attached directly to an ear with the representation of time. In other words: compliment your loved ones, you don't have much time in this world, and when you do what you say to them go straight to their heart.
